We are back in the ring for the Australian Space Awards 2026 as finalist.

The Southern Cross Outback Observatories Project (SCOOP) is proud to announce its nomination as a finalist in the 2026 Australian Space Awards in the categories of Innovator of the Year and Space Situational Awareness Program of the Year. This recognition highlights SCOOP’s mission to advance a new generation of Australian-led space sustainability solutions through innovative, observatory-based detection, tracking and future mitigation of space debris. By combining coordinated optical observation from the Australian outback with a long-term vision for orbital safety, SCOOP is working to strengthen space situational awareness and help protect the near-Earth environment for science, industry and future generations. These nominations reflect our commitment to building practical technologies that contribute to a safer, more sustainable future in space.
